Job Description

Accurate Mental Health is hiring a Family Therapist to provide family therapy services to day treatment clients at our day treatment facility in Coon Rapids, MN.  This is a full-time position and the therapist will be an independent contractor with our agency. 

Accurate Mental Health offers Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) day treatment services that are regulated by the MN Department of Human Services. CTSS addresses the conditions of emotional disturbance that impair and interfere with an individual’s ability to function independently.  For children and adolescents with emotional disturbances, rehabilitation means a series of multidisciplinary interventions to help restore a child or adolescent to a level of functioning that they either had or would have achieved if normal development had not been impaired by a mental disorder.

Accurate Mental Health strives to improve the mental health of our clients and their families.  The therapy, skills and support we provide our clients allows them to improve their functioning at home, school and in the community.  Family therapy is an important treatment component that we are adding to our day treatment services. 

The Family Therapist duties will include:

  • Completes clinical diagnostic assessments
  • Develops treatment plans for family therapy
  • Completes ongoing clinical documentation and submit it weekly to the AHC billing department
  • Engages in ongoing consultation with the day treatment staff
  • Provides referrals as needed for other family members
  • Provides family therapy with each day treatment client and their family members

Job Requirements


  • Has a current Minnesota license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Three to five years of clinical experience as a family therapist
  • Maintain MFT board required continuing education requirements annually
  • Professional labiality insurance
  • Experience with use of DSM-5 manual
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion for minor clients with mental illness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, good attention to detail, and great problem-solving skills
